the project
ultrasonic future outlaw is a dub techno project based in stockport, on the edge of manchester. ambient, psychedelic, minimal. all tracks written, produced, mixed and mastered in one room, on hardware the project owns. no cloud chain. no algorithm consulted. no stems rented by the month.
the records are a practice, not a product. the live sets are long. the cover art is slow. the email list is better than the feed.
the sound
the lineage runs from basic channel to rhythm & sound, to moritz von oswald, to andy stott, to wata igarashi, to the quieter end of warp. a chord held in a chamber until the room hums back. low end as weather. delay as architecture. c minor, mostly, because the body recognises it.
ufo is a room you can enter. the point is not the drop. the point is the space the drop leaves.
the principle
every master lives on a drive that can be pointed at. every cover is rendered in blender, on a local machine, in a file that can be opened in ten years. the website is hand-written. the mailing list is self-owned. the discs are pressed in a finite number and sold direct.
none of this is nostalgia. it's a refusal of the default arrangement, which is: hand your work to a platform, hand your listeners to a platform, pay the platform for the privilege, and accept whatever reach the platform decides you get this quarter.
my data is my domain. my ambient fog is my castle.
what this site is for: a single direct line between the work and whoever finds it. the charter sits in the transmissions, the records sit on bandcamp, the mix sits on mixcloud, and the shows get announced here first.
the work
